BRIEF ON THE PROGRAMS
1.MISS AND MR.KIBERA INITIATIVE
This is platform for the youth to address their issues as well as those of the community. The process gives the youth a chance to make important decisions pertaining HIV/AIDS and other issues that are of interest o them. Two young ambassadors are realized from this pageant to represent the youth in the public for. It gives a chance to the youth to take up responsibility of upbringing the young ones.
2. SPORTS AND CULTURE
Sport is a major recreational activity for most youths. Soccer forms a big percentage of sports in Kibera. There is growing interest in Basketball, Volleyball, Rugby and Boxing among others.
Tapping and nurturing talent among youth in Kibera and helping them to put it into good use will solve a big chunk of the problems faced by youths. Through cultural activities the program is able to reach many members of the society through theatre and theatrical discussion
3.INFORMATION AND COMMUNICATION TECHNOLOGY
ISSA believes that in this rapidly changing world, technology plays an integral role in dissemination of information in an efficient and effective way.
This department is charged with the responsibility of overseeing the setting up of a resource center to benefit the Kibera community and equipping the young people with skills to enable them fit in the modern technological society.
4. HEALTHS AND ENVIRONMENT
The physical conditions around us affect us. With lack of necessary sanitation facilities like toilets, dumping sites and drainage, ISSA takes part in advocating for and maintaining a clean environment.
5. ADVOCACIES AND NETWORKING
This department uses drama, poetry, and other forms of theatre to reach out to the community. Also workshops are used as a platform for raising awareness on key issues like drugs, sex, HIV/AIDS, involvement in the government project and policies environment among other issues in the community.
6. SPECIAL PROGRAMMES
We believe that no organization is an island of itself and that we need to work with strategic organizations for the benefit of the community. Our members also need to feel satisfied and contented, for effective participation.
